Starting tomorrow, people will be able to pre-register for Miitomo and My Nintendo on the new Nintendo Account service.
Those registered will receive a special in-game bonus and will be the first notified about Miitomo when it launches in March. People can register using email, a social network account or an existing Nintendo Network ID. Miitomo, Nintendo’s first mobile app, is scheduled for March on both iOS and Android phones and tablets. This app will be released in 8 languages spanning over 16 regions.
Miitomo is a social experience that uses Nintendo’s Mii characters, or avatars, to have an engaging and friendly conversation. Similar to other features found in different social media platforms, users can spark conversations and learn more about each other by answering questions such as “What song has been stuck in your head lately?” Another important aspect of social media platforms are the photos. Users can snap and share photos featuring their Mii with a Miifoto feature. Miitomo will also feature one of their best known characters, who has not been announced yet.
My Nintendo aims to be an innovative service that has essentially replaced Club Nintendo. Club Nintendo was a rewards program that incentivized players for completing feedback surveys on their products. My Nintendo separates from that in it will reward users for interacting with Nintendo products and services, which in turn, will enhance their gameplay experience.
Nintendo plans to release four more apps for iOS and Android by the end of March 2017. After feeling forced to adapt to a changing gaming world and the popularity of smartphone devices, Nintendo has partnered with DeNA to catch up on mobile platforms. The next console, currently known as NX, is meant to bridge the gap between traditional home consoles and mobile devices.
