Last year, Super Mario Bros was part of the elite six games inducted for the first time in 2015.
The Legend of Zelda was one of the six games announced during the induction ceremony held on May 5. Selected by a committee of journalists, scholars and video game industry members, inductees into the World Video Game Hall of Fame are recognized for their iconic status, longevity, geographical reach and influence. The other 5 titles include: Grand Theft Auto III, The Oregon Trail, The Sims, Sonic the Hedgehog and Space Invaders. For more information, check out the official webpage.
The Legend of Zelda, first launched in 1986 for NES, was innovative with its non-linear gameplay. A new entry in this prized series is being developed for Wii U and NX and will be the focus of Nintendo’s presence at E3 2016.
